​​​Mayor Anne Eadie called to order the Committee of the Whole meeting of the Council of The Corporation of the Municipality of Kincardine at 5:07 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2019 in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Administration Centre.​

    THAT the minutes of the C O W meeting held on May 22, 2019 be adopted as printed.

Mr. Kuntz and Ms. McGregor provided update on: Western Waste Management Facility; deep geologic repository for low and intermediate level waste; First Nations and Metis engagement; company highlights; community sponsorships.

In response to enquiries, it was indicated that there is waste (used fuel) from small modular reactors and there is no approved handling process at this point, the SON approval process for the deep geologic repository for high level waste will be determined by SON, fuel rods are intermediate level waste and would be stored at Western Waste Management Facility. 

Mr. Scongack and Mr. Abbott provided update regarding: Bruce Power's investment in local health care; aspects of the MCR project; operational performance; medical isotope leadership; summer bus tour program; post-secondary scholarships; emergency preparedness; innovation & economic development;Ontario Nuclear Innovation Institute.

Discussion took place regarding the method of transport for medical isotopes and the increased vehicular traffic associated with the MCR project.

Mayor Eadie reported Province has announced inter-library services will continue, no major cuts to provincial funding, theft of plants from labyrinth and other community gardens.

1. Communications 8.5 h. Federal Budget Commits to One-time Doubling of Gas Tax Funds

It was questioned whether there is any word on what the Province will do with the extra monies.  Staff to check and confirm.
