The Kincardine Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee meeting of The Corporation of the Municipality of Kincardine was called to Order at 8:04 a.m. on June 17, 2021 electronically

Chair Kennedy read the land acknowledgement statement.

Sharon added discussing a work plan for the physician recruiter and how we start to develop our processes.

Doug added the physician recruitment and retention package.

    THAT the Physician Recruitment Committee adopt the minutes of the meeting held May 20, 2021 as presented.

Sharon Chambers took a minute to introduce Lorie Fioze, Manager of Strategic Initiatives to the Committee.

Sharon Chambers gave an update on the Physician Recruitment/Clinic Manager and announced that the role has been successfully filled.

Sharon Chambers overviewed the process for amending the agreement. She added that we should appoint another person to work with the Municipality in this process to negotiate the new lease. 

The Municipality will reach out to Gary Gurbin to set up a meeting. 

Sharon Chambers added that the framework for the physician recruiter with respect to physician recruitment tasks (ie. clearly define responsibilities).

Angela update all of the contact information to have recruiter by the first point of contact, carry through the first site visits, working with the lead physician to arrange for locum, and later involve the Municipality when the physician is serious about relocating to the community. 

The Committee would receive updates in camera on leads on a continual basis with regular communication to Council.

Sharon Chambers added that a draft plan will be brought to the next meeting for discussion. Angela Cavanagh added that we would be aiming to recruit 2-3 family physicians as a first priority.

The new Recruiter will bring back a report to the Committee with researched options and comparisons. Until a report is brought back to Council, the current recruitment package should stand. 

At the next meeting reports on the financial implications of the KPG proposal and the research of incentive packages will be brought forward by Staff and the Physician Recruiter.
