Chief Administrative Officer provided a verbal report on the COVID-19/Declared Emergency.
Vaccination Centre update (March 5, 2021):
The Municipality has completed the requirements for the mass vaccination centre at the Davidson Centre, as directed by public health. There are a few minor items remaining prior to the first day of operation which will be on March 12th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The March 12th clinic will be a “soft start” to allow us to gage the effectiveness of the parking plan. There will be no impact on Davidson Centre programming that day. Shane and Frank have done an excellent job of organizing volunteers to coordinate parking. To date, the Rotary Club, Lions Club and HASAR, Huron Area Search And Rescue will be providing volunteers.
The frame for the vaccine room has been installed and public health notified so they can complete the key card access.
• Surveillance cameras have been installed with the monitor being in the Facility supervisor’s office (it is operational).
• Floor stickers and stanchions have been assembled.
• Partitions provided to the Kincardine station were delivered and have been returned.
• Parking lot plan is complete and will be sent out later today (to include instructions (FAQ) for volunteers for parking lot). Public Health also requested to share plan with Lambton County, so they have something to work from.
• Public Works has dropped off barricades and signage for parking lot to be assembled morning of first vaccination day.
• Sink installed in vaccine room.
• Area cleared for recovery 10x10 area.

Request for Extended Ice Season at the Tiverton Sports Centre
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the 2020-2021 ice season was very different for our users due to the protocols and guidelines that were put in place along with the mandated lock-down that closed arenas for 7 weeks.
As sports and recreation activities are still being impacted by COVID, ice user groups are requesting that the ice season be extended until the end of May; this will allow both youth and adults opportunities for continued physical exercise while at the same time promoting social and mental health benefits.
The ice at the Davidson Centre will be removed March 31st to accommodate the arena refrigeration project to ensure it is completed by the June 1st Trillium Grant deadline, so that leaves the Tiverton Sports Centre as a viable option.
Our Refrigeration Contractor has confirmed that as long as the dehumidifiers are functioning (which they are), that we should be fine to extend our ice season until May 31, 2021.
Considering all the expenses that would be involved in maintaining the ice extension request such as hydro, water, propane, and staff wages, we would need to book 106 hours of ice time per month to break even – and to date we have tentatively confirmed 144 hours of ice booked for each of April and May, and we anticipate that this number will increase as word spreads of the ice extension.
Therefore, based on the above, staff is recommending that Council approve the extension of the ice season at the Tiverton Sports Centre until May 31, 2021.
