S.357 & S.358 Applications ‐ Cancellation or Reduction in Property Taxes

Individuals making applications under Municipal Act S. 357 and S. 358 may make representation to Council and will be afforded the opportunity to do so at this meeting.

• Motion #

  WHEREAS S.357 and S.358 of the Municipal Act provides a process for property owners to apply for a cancellation, reduction and refund of taxes under specific circumstances including but not limited to a change in the use of a property, demolition or fire, the property being substantially unusable for a period of at least 3 months or a gross and manifest error in the preparation of the assessment roll;

  AND WHEREAS in the opinion of staff, the 27 write-offs (Appeal No. 2019-01 to 2019-27) meet the criteria set out in the Municipal Act;

  AND WHEREAS the total of the applications amount to $16,315.77, with the municipal share being $9,867.26;

  NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council approve the applications as provided.
