Call to Order

A Special Meeting of the Council of The Corporation of the Municipality of Kincardine will be called to Order at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 electronically in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Administration Centre.

The special meeting was called to appoint an eligible elector to fill a vacancy on Council (Ward 1 Councillor).

Land Acknowledgment Statement

Councillor Doug Kennedy will open the meeting with the Land Acknowledgment Statement. 

Our Municipality is situated on lands deeply connected to Indigenous peoples who have historically lived, and who currently live, in this territory.  As a public institution, we are committed to learning about the experiences of Indigenous peoples, and what impact the decisions of Council have on their wellbeing and way of life.

Business for Which the Special Meeting is Called

The Office of Councillor Ward 1 for the Municipality of Kincardine was declared vacant in accordance with section 262(1) of the Municipal Act, S.O. 2001.C.25 on April 26, 2021.

The process for filling this vacancy is outlined in the "Appoint an Eligible Elector to Fill a Vacancy Procedure" approved by Council on November 9, 2020.

This meeting was called as the Council Appointment Meeting.

List of Certified Candidates

The Clerk to provide a list of certified candidates.

Nomination of Candidates

  THAT the following individuals, who have signified in writing that they are legally qualified to hold office and consented to accept the office if they are appointed to fill the vacancy, be considered for appointment to fill such vacancy.

Review of Candidates and Qualifications

Each of the candidates shall be afforded the opportunity to address Council for a period of not more than ten (10) minutes.  The order of candidates for the agenda has been placed alphabetically.  The order of speaking shall be determined by lot.  The names drawn shall address Council in the order they are drawn from the container. 

Signatures and other personal information have been redacted for privacy purposes.

Vote for Candidate to be Appointed

The voting procedures Council will use to determine the Candidate to be appointed are outlined in the "Appoint an Eligible Elector to Fill a Vacancy Procedure" adopted by Council on November 9, 2020.
